Hound Dogs Get Their Sea Legs

I missed doing a blog last week as I simply ran out of time, so this week's one is epic! First things first, I must talk about the Muddy Dog Challenge that Peach and I took part in at Hever Castle on the 30th September. I'm sure you've all seen the Facebook post and pictures, but I am so extremely proud of my little girl. She did over and above what I asked her to do, and I couldn't believe that she ran the whole way round and even swam on the first hurdle. Of course, some of the obstacles she simply couldn't do because of her physiology (high trampolines), but being the only Basset ...

It 'aint half hot Mum!

So after a short absence while we took a little holiday, we are back, and apart from a weekend in the New Forest, we have no more holidays now until Christmas. I wrote a separate blog about Dog-friendly holidays, but needless to say we had a fantastic week in the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley. Out of all the places we've visited with the Hounds, this certainly wins the dog-friendliness award. Autumn Arachnophobia

Another week races by at a rate of knots that quite frankly scares the life out of me.  I mean how is it September already? Celebrating the fact we had had Daisy a year on Sunday brought it home, that does not seem like a year and she's had lots of different adventures in that year bless her.  Being September means not only chillier and darker mornings and wardrobe decisions shifting from shorts or trousers to coat or no coat but also lots of 8 legged creatures creeping indoors.  Yes one or two mornings this week I've stumbled bleary eyed into the bathroom only to...

The Nights Are Drawing In

A shorter working week but why does it feel longer and harder than normal?  I suspect because we try to squeeze in 5 days of work into 4.  The last Bank Holiday until Christmas and what a scorcher it was?  Totally unheard of in this country, normally it decides to pour with rain.  We headed off to Firle Village Fete with some friends of ours and our Bassets.  5 Basset Hounds, all of them different and quite a sight for the Villagers who wanted to either fuss the dogs, have a photo or ask questions about them.  Firle Village is lovely and the Fete was well attended...
